Conquering Dorr Mountain

Day 2

Waterville to Bar Harbor, Maine

This morning we got up around 7 and packed up again to continue on our journey…

3 girls, 8 days, cold weather…. We did NOT pack lightly

So long Budget Host!!!

Thanks for the good nights sleep and laughs

We ate at Dunkin Donuts for Breakfast. I had an egg white wrap and coffee

Really good coffee!

As soon as we finished, we hit the road.

Destination: Bar Harbor!!!

We could not have asked for any more perfect weather. It was mid 70’s, sunny, and clear with a light breeze…Perfect!

We hit the coast for a more scenic route

It was like the trees changed overnight…they were BEAUTIFUL!

We just drove with the windows down, took our time, stopped and got out when we wanted and kept the day relaxing…no agenda

As we were getting closer to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor we stopped at a souvenir shop to stretch our legs

We then, hopped back in the car and stopped a few miles down the road at a Lobster Shack

They drop the lobsters in these big pots to cook them

I ate a “crab roll” …hold the Lettuce

and an ear of corn. It was YUMMY!

After lunch we went to Acadia National Park to figure out the ‘game plan’ for the rest of the afternoon

We decided to hike Dorr Mountain

let me tell ya…it was no joke

ok…so maybe it wasn’t as straight up as this picture may imply…

but it did have me huffin’ and puffin to the point that I sounded like a 300lb Asthma patient.

This little outdoor activity gave the term ‘in shape’ a whole new meaning

the view on the way up was gorgeous

After taking a break and enjoying the view for a bit, we began to descend down the Mt…only to figure out later we were going down the wrong side!

So we went back to the top and got back on track…making it back just before dark!

Needless to say after all the hiking we had worked up an appetite…so we checked in to our hotel

and got ready for dinner at Geddy’s

some locals had suggested it earlier in the day. Cool atmosphere and super good food!

we were pleased with the recommendation!

After dinner we walked the streets of Bar harbor for a little while and went in some of the shops

Then headed back to the hotel to catch some zzz’s

needless to say we have had a FULL day and are watching the sunrise in the A.M., which means very little sleep!
