When I moved in to my house the front yard was all that had sod, or an form of grass for that matter. I should have negotiated it, but hind site is 20/20. So for the past 3 yrs my side and back yard have been dirt. Ugly I know...but at least I have not had to maintain it!
Well...In the past several months they have started building in my neighborhood. They have just finished the house right next to me. A couple of weeks ago my brother (who lives with me) started talking to the builder outside. He asked if they would give us a deal on the sod, since they would already be out there laying it. The guy said it would be $80/pallet if we laid it and $130/pallet if they did it. I decided against it. I didn't really feel like it was a deal.
About a week and a half ago they layed the sod on my neighbors property. Tyler said, "go look in the back yard". So I did, there were 3 pallets of sod in the back yard. Not sitting on the property line. Clearly in the center of the back yard. I came back and said, "well do you think they just gave it to us?" Tyler said he was kinda thinking the same thing.
We waited a week. The grass was still sitting there. It was dying, and who am I to allow perfectly good grass to go to waste?!? I decided that it had to be a blessing from the Lord, to which I gladly received:0)
So yesterday in the cold and rain we layed the sod. It did not cover the whole yard but it is better than nothing and they still have to build on the other side of my house...So who knows;0)
I'll let ya know if I end up getting a bill for my "blessing";0)
But I really believe they left it for us on purpose
Tyler had already layed some of it at this point
He's a little stronger than me
Tyler: "what? That's all you have been carrying?!?"
Me: "well it's better than nothing isn't it?"
What a great team!
